Privacy Policy
The short version
- We only collect what's needed to run your account and keep your save: your email, captain name and game progress.
- No ads, no tracking, no analytics, and we never sell your data.

This policy explains what information Castaway (“we”, “us”) collects when you play the game at this website, how it's used, and the choices you have. By playing, you agree to this policy and our Terms of Service.
What we collect

We don't collect your location, contacts, payment details or anything else, and Castaway has no in-game chat.
Stored on your device
The game uses your browser's local storage (similar to cookies) to keep you logged in, keep a copy of your save in case you go offline, and remember settings. If you play as a guest, your progress is kept only on your device and never sent to us. Clearing your browser data erases guest progress and logs you out. We don't use advertising or tracking cookies.
How we use it
- To run the game, your account and your saves.
- To keep the service secure and stop cheating or abuse.
- To answer you when you contact us.
We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information, show you ads, or use it for marketing.
Services we rely on
We use a few trusted providers to run Castaway. They handle data only to provide their service to us:
- Supabase: accounts, login and the database that stores your save.
- Netlify: hosts the website.
- Google: “Continue with Google” sign-in (if you choose it) and the fonts used on the site.
- cdnjs (Cloudflare) and jsDelivr: deliver the code libraries the game runs on.
Loading the site means your browser connects to these services, which may log your IP address under their own privacy policies. Your data may be stored and processed in the United States or other countries where these providers operate.
We may also share information if the law requires it, or to protect the safety of players or the service.
How long we keep it
We keep your account and save for as long as your account exists. If you ask us to delete your account, we'll remove your account and save within 30 days. Routine server logs kept by our providers are deleted on their own schedules.
Your choices and rights
- See your data: ask us for a copy of what we hold about you.
- Fix it: ask us to correct your information.
- Delete it: ask us to delete your account and save. Email playcastawaysupport@gmail.com from the address on your account.
- Disconnect Google: you can remove Castaway's access any time at myaccount.google.com/connections.
- Start over: the in-game “Reset progress” option clears your save.
Depending on where you live, you may have extra rights under local privacy laws. We'll honor any valid request, and we will never treat you differently for making one.
Children
Castaway is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them. Players under 13 can play as a guest, which stores nothing on our servers. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, contact playcastawaysupport@gmail.com and we'll delete it.
Security
Connections to the site are encrypted (HTTPS), passwords are hashed, and database rules ensure each player can only read and change their own save. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information and will let you know if a breach affects your account.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page. If the changes are significant, we'll let you know in the game.
